Hi, Dear Ones! It’s almost a wrap on June! But don’t fret, we still have lots of summertime left.
Slow Summer Bookclub Starts Today:
Wahoo! If you haven’t already started reading the Introduction and Chapter One of The Listening Path The Creative Art of Attention, then today is the day to begin! Your first check-in email will arrive in your inbox this Friday and will allow you to chat about how things are going for you as we begin reading. Our first optional Zoom gathering will take place on Sunday, June 30. All details are HERE. Only paid subscribers/members are here in this space. Questions? Reply to this email. If you are not reading the book with us, please ignore the Friday check-in emails. ( and know that you may join us at any time.)
Update on the Memoir:
As you may know, I am taking a break from memoir writing this entire summer! That doesn’t mean things aren’t progressing. In early May, I sent my whole manuscript to Caitlin, a developmental editor I trust. All 130 thousand words of it. (Can we have a moment for Caitlin? Bless her eyes. ) She held my story tenderly and sent back her notes yesterday! I will set aside sometime later to open her document and slowly begin reading her notes. I’m excited, slightly terrified, and humbled.
Update on the Labyrinth Build + My Birthday Fundraiser
If we are also friends on FB or Instagram, you’ve seen some of my labyrinth build updates. On the first day of the build, I camped out all day watching it come to life. It is now complete and walkable and we’re fundraising for the surrounding areas to create a meditation garden. We plan to plant pollinators and native plants, add benches, and create a calming space of retreat open to anyone and everyone. My birthday is July 2. If you’d like to be a part of donating to my birthday fundraiser, you can click here. If you donate, please add #MTFundraiser in the notes. Thank you! Imagine how beautiful this space could become.
This Month’s Recommendations and Things Worth Sharing:
Film: A quiet film with no easy answers, Freud’s Last Session on Netflix, was like watching good theater. A fascinating dialogue between two great minds.
TV Series:
Dark Matter - Ron and I argued with the writing while watching this one but it was entertaining and the lead actors were great.
Baby Reindeer - controversial and darker than I usually prefer ( in fact, I had to fast forward through some scenes) but if you can handle it, the writing and acting are stellar.
