SEPTEMBER FAVORITES + A STORY
My Monthly Recommendations, a Writing Technique, Updates, and more!
Happy end of September and welcome to almost October, friends!
THIS MONTH’S FAVORITES
YOU! Thanks again for being here and for your support!
FILM: Need a warm-hearted, light romp through Greece with the Big Fat Greek Wedding crew? I had very low expectations for Part 3 of the series, but I came away content and smiling. Just what I needed after an exhausting week.
I am looking forward to watching the film, Theatre Camp. Have you seen it yet?
SERIES: A Time Called You on Netflix. A time-traveling mystery and love story on Netflix. Need something that’s not a K-Drama? Check out: Wait…That’s all I have been watching, sorry! : )
Book: Make Time: How To Focus On What Matters Everyday by Jake Knapp and John Zeratsky. I stumbled across this book after watching some videos by Ali Abdaal. I’m a bit of a productivity nerd, but not to micromanage every minute or have zero email inbox ( I mean, who cares?), but as this book title says, it’s more about making time for what matters most. And wow, I am already feeling much less stressed and like I suddenly have more hours in my day for bike riding, hanging with the family, or playing with my pups. Be warned, you may need to consider removing what they call “ Infinity Pools” from your phone, but you’ll instantly gain more ease and focus. MT- promise- pinky swear.
A COLLAGE I made last week reminds me to limit my social media apps and the freedom that comes with it. It’s owl-watching time here in Colorado. I don’t want to miss it scrolling through my phone mindlessly.
What I’m Currently Reading /What’s On My Bedside Table:
Also, this manual just arrived in the mail! I’ll be training in October to become a Certified Labyrinth Facilitator with Veriditas. ( Dandelion artwork by community member Diana Teeters)
Celebrations and Changes: At the end of August, our youngest daughter, her partner, and their pup moved up from Austin and in with us for a couple of weeks to get settled and find a place to live in Denver. It was such a sweet experience to have everyone back under our roof for a time. I am incredibly happy and grateful to have both our daughters living nearby now. We also had a sweet weekend visit with some of our oldest friends. And hey, It’s FALL, Y’ALL!
If you missed last week’s free newsletter, I share the concept of a Labyrinth as a way to circle to the center of our stories.
A reminder:
If you’d like to read one of my stories, here’s the next installment for you, as promised. This is the first memory story I wrote when I began. It’s still a draft.
MR. GIANT
“Mr. Giant! Mr. Giant! Please come out!” These were the conjuring words passed down to me by my maternal grandparents. They were the only ones who knew that Mr. Giant lived in a castle underwater in the reservoir down the street. The only ones who knew the magic words to summon him from the depths of the dark lake, and yes, they taught them to me.
