I meant to also say that I’m grateful for my daily contemplative prayer practice and the CAC meditations/reflections.

I appreciate this reflection on wintering and Advent. I love the concept of wintering and really feel the pull to slow down at this time of year, but it's challenging to actually do it because I still work full time outside the home Monday through Friday. I would very much like to have more time to meditate, journal and read on a daily basis. In the meantime, I am grateful for my job which allows me to support my family and for being a Heart's Content subscriber.

Hi, Gina. I'm happy that this writing supported you. I hear your desire for more contemplative time and I wanted to encourage you and remind you that just 15 minutes in the morning can make a world of difference in your day. Bite-sized commitments to journaling or reading ( 5 minutes) and even 5 minutes of sitting in quiet can truly begin to shift your internal landscape. Maybe experiment with this and see how it goes? Glad you're here with us!

Hi Mary,

Thank you for your kind reply and suggestions. I didn't explain in my response that I have had a regular centering prayer practice for 15 years (and can't imagine where I'd be without it) - it absolutely makes a difference in my day and the cumulative effect on my life has been profound. I also take some time in the evening for spiritual reading, even if just for a few minutes. After two years in the Living School, I'm feeling a strong pull towards even more quiet time, contemplative study and writing. The teachings during the Living School and two major life events during that time (multi-month family crisis and unexpected job change) deepened my well in ways I never could have imagined. There has been a felt shift in the core of my being and in the way I approach each moment (most of the time anyway). Thank you for inviting me to be part of this community!

Ah, Gina! A Living School sister! Beautiful. I'm glad you shared more about yourself. I'm in the 2023 Cohort, so I beginning year 2. What year were you sent? The impact of The Living School is nearly unexplainable, isn't it? And again, I'm thrilled that you're here.

I do love the "Wintering" as an adjective--I shall investigate this book you speak of.
