BUT ENOUGH ABOUT ME...
I'm passing the microphone to you this week. Everyone who participates gets entered to win my Write 444 digital mini-course + bonuses!
Hello, friends!
This time of year can feel like a speeding train. Each year I continue to be shocked at how fast the weeks fly by between the start of Back to School and the countdown on New Year’s Eve. That said, there are only 5 more installments of Heart’s Content newsletters before we wrap up 2022. How is that possible?
While I am thrilled to see this little heart-centered newsletter grow and I hope that its readership continues to expand as we move into the new year, I feel as if we’ve only just begun —somebody cue The Carpenters.
I launched this little experiment called Heart’s Content in February of this year. I committed to showing up weekly to write and share with you from my heart. With more than 50 weekly newsletters sent to date and hundreds of subscribers now gathered here, this little experiment has become a community of readers.
What began as a way for me to explore and commit to writing more consistently has become a true source of joy for me. Connecting with you has been an amazing gift and I am truly grateful for your presence here.
That said, with new people joining us each week, today I wanted to pause and check in with you in the hope that you might shine a little light on who’s here and tell me a little bit about yourself.
I’d really appreciate it if you’re willing to answer some or all of the questions I’m about to share. If you’re comfortable sharing your answers in the comments section, please do, as it will allow everyone to read and enjoy, but if you’d like to respond privately you can also just respond to this email directly. It will help me tremendously to know who is here with me and why you continue to hang out here! ( H/T to Scott at Action Cookbook for the idea!)
Is This Thing On?
It’s Your Turn!
Tell me about yourself. Anything you’re comfortable sharing. Hit me with your quick biography!
Where are you in the world?
I know that we have readers from the United States, Canada, Scotland, Ireland, Japan, India, South Africa, and a few other countries, but I don’t know the full scope. I am curious who would win the prize for the person who reads this newsletter from the furthest away.
How did you find your way here?
Instagram? Facebook? My website? A referral from another newsletter? Did someone forward an email? Were you part of the work I did in the past and you’ve followed me here? How did you learn about Heart’s Content?
Was there a particular newsletter that drew you in? Did any stand out as particularly memorable? This could be the question I’m most curious about!
What type of things do you enjoy most here? Is it the creative/spiritual practices I share? Stories from the curriculum of my personal life? Writing and healing your story content? Ron’s world? Interesting links and recommendations? Something else?
Are there any topics that I’ve touched upon that you’ve especially appreciated or enjoyed?
What do you hope to see more of? Let’s ponder next year’s themes together.
REMEMBER - Everyone who responds to this post before next week’s newsletter gets entered to win my Write 444 Challenge digital mini-course + bonuses. Good luck!

We will return to our regularly scheduled programming next week.
Thanks in advance for your feedback this week! I can’t wait to learn more about you!
However you choose to gather with those you love, I'm wishing you a week full of gratitude.

I'll offer a quick bio of my own, in case you’re new here:
I'm Mary, a retired actor/teacher/filmmaker who is currently a student in Richard Rohr’s The Living School and who has become increasingly smitten with the process of writing! Originally from Louisiana, Ron and I and our two pups live in Northern Colorado. We’ve been married almost 40 years ( that’s still shocking to write) with two adult daughters and four dogs within the family.
In addition to writing, I love live theater and film, taking hip-hop dance classes, studying the mystics, and laughing with my family and friends. If you want to get an idea of the kinds of things I write about, check these three posts:

Have I mentioned how happy I am that you’re here? Your turn!
Hi! I’m Angeli. I am a recently quit clinical pharmacist who also started writing online in February!! I found you when I switched to substack in October :) I love your writings about spirituality and creativity, it goes very well with what I write about. I had a spiritual awakening back in 2017 and have been on a path of self-growth since.
I started feeling to compelled to share my learnings online which is why i started writing. I live in Nashville, TN with my dog, Rocco :) In addition to writing, I love meditation, journaling, reading books about the soul, cooking, baking, running, and painting. I recently joined an art group that meets once weekly to paint together and that’s been a lot of fun. It’s been a fun time since I quit work :)
